I was exposed to Covid last week and my sweet wife was stuck in LA for an extra week with it so when I felt exhausted on Thursday, I figured my time had come. However, 2 rapid tests and 1 PCR later, I’m still testing negative and feel 100% better today. My guess is my body was pulling the wool over my brain’s eyes and forcing me to sleep through my stress. Fine body, whatever. Today I slept in, cleaned the bathroom, got snacks at Ocean State, and finally got frames to hang the random prints I’ve purchased. I also picked up a large rubber toad.
Something I love: We watched “A Comedy of Terrors” starring Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Boris Karloff, and Basil Rathbone the other night and it was terrific! Self-aware camp and astounding actors chewing up the scenery; highly recommend.
Something that’s annoyed me: Yes, let’s spend money to ship desperate people to another state instead of using that money to actually help them. Great governing. *grumble grumble*
What I’m reading: I’ve really been enjoying Cora Harrington’s Twitter takes on fast fashion among other things and am honestly shocked by the pushback she is getting. Shein is actively bad, everyone!
The state of pants: Yesterday I wore a pair of black elastic waist drop crotch pants I made using a stretch cotton for rag & bone I picked up at Mood. People really need to feel and and learn to expect decent fabric; maybe that would help in the move away from fast fashion.
Plant update: Fall garden kohlrabi and daikon are up! Along with tomatoes that didn’t die in the compost bin whoops.
Cat update: Calamity is a muffin.
Thrift report: I forgot to mention that last week I found a teeny black leather Kate Spade purse for $4.50, a dumb cardigan that looks like a bathmat with pompoms for $4.99, a grey hooded poncho for $10 and I splurged on a black wool The Kooples blazer for $15.
Am I making anything: I cut out a grey tshirt with an elongated curved hem. Let’s see if I can do a decent job binding the neck.
TRR dumb item(s) I like: I bought a plaid lawn oversized shirt dress from 6397 because I can’t get enough shirt dresses and I’m trying to not just wear black. I see this layered over pants, only buttoned on top or unbuttoned over a sleeveless dress. It is a great layering piece, especially as I am often warm!
